The
Faculty of Economics has a long and rich tradition in
basic and applied research activities. Through research
activities the following areas of interest are dealt
with: current theoretical and practical economic issues
in the areas of microeconomics, macroeconomics, public
administration, marketing, finance, accounting, management
and entrepreneurship.
Research activities comprise
the following areas:
- Conducting research studies,
development studies, strategies, development plans,
expertise development studies
- Conducting studies on privatization
process, economic analyses, pre-investment studies
and business studies for business sector, i.e. small,
medium-sized enterprise and large businesses
- Conducting research and development
services in project justification analyses implementation
and making business deals to insure technology and
know-how transfer from foreign to national business
sector
- Conducting justification analysis
for capacity expansion in local businesses and designing
projects which improve competitiveness in those businesses
in the market
- Implementing brand development
projects in order to assist companies to develop their
market activities and improve competitiveness in the
contemporary demanding national and international
markets
- Organizing round tables, symposiums,
consultancy, seminars, gatherings

Research activities are carried out through
implementation of projects supported by:
- Doctoral dissertations and
masters’ theses research carried out as a part of
doctoral and masters’ studies
- Research and development projects
supported by the interested business sectors (economy
sectors), Chambers of Commerce, Regional development
agencies
- Research and development projects
supported by various organizations and funds such
as EU and USA funds for science
Results of research activities are published
in relevant journals indexed in the international data
bases (EBSCO, ECONLIT,), other relevant journals (Ekonomska
revija/Economy Review, Tranzicija/Transition), referent
conferences and congresses, doctoral dissertations (30)
and masters’ theses (79).
