DAAD-RISE PROGRAMME,
SUMMER 2011
Dear colleagues,
Re: Scholarships for German undergraduates for lab placements worldwide,
summer 2011.
Following on from the success of the RISE intern
programme inviting US and UK under-graduates on internships to Germany,
the DAAD now has a reciprocal programme offering German undergraduates
the opportunity of an internship abroad over the summer.
The DAAD is inviting research groups from all over
the world who are interested in hosting a German undergraduate to
assist in their research in the summer of 2011 to submit their in-ternship
project online at www.daad.de/rise-programs.
In this programme, research groups, laboratories
and doctoral students can apply to host a motivated and well-qualified
student from Germany as a research intern to assist with their proposed
project. Students participating in this program are restricted to
the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, engineering,
or a closely related field, and will receive a DAAD scholarship
to help cover living expenses and travel costs.
If you are interested then please go to www.daad.de/rise-weltweit.
Here, you will find the database where you can enter your project
offers. The database opens 11 October 2010 and the deadline
for entering your project is 26 November 2010. After that,
the database is closed to internship providers.
Once the DAAD approves your offer, it will be posted on the intern
database on this website. This database is accessible to anyone
who is interested in applying and has registered online.
Each student applying for an internship may apply
for up to three projects, between 6 December 2010 and 16 January
2011. The prospective hosts are then asked to provide the DAAD
with their quality assessment of the applications for their projects.
Please note: Only those students whose applications have been accepted,
reviewed and ranked by a potential host are placed with that host’s
project. We do our best to account for both the preferences of the
students and of the hosts. However, we cannot guarantee in every
case that a project provider will be matched with his or her top
applicant.
